In Word Study 5, your student will continue to master the processes of encoding and decoding. Encoding is writing words from oral language, i.e. spelling. Decoding is reading words from text. In this 120-lesson course, Alice Nine seamlessly integrates phonics, handwriting, syllabication, and spelling rules.
The first video of each lesson includes phonogram practice, referred to as retrieval practice. It includes phonogram flash cards and phonogram dictation with guided self-checking.
The second video is titled “Think to Spell” [ALL_TH01_think_to_spell.pdf] which is word chunking from oral to written language using application of phonics and spelling rules.

120 Lessons (ranging from 15 to 20 minutes of video run time per lesson)
241 Student-facing videos (2 per lesson, 5 to 10 mins. run time each)
